Just like a long lost dream
It comes out of nowhere
As I drown in the sweltering heat
Delirious in the turgid essence of sweats
No one whispers in my ear
Silence burns like fire in my arid mind
Where rain ceaselessly breathes like an
unbreakable spell of incantation
An enigma seeks a simple code
which can't be decoded by the scorching sun
Over the horizon where clouds never come
The sky brews its bluest ink
And smudges the canvas with nothingness
As the heatwave rolls over the earth
Its skin blisters like boiling bubbles
The parched trees keep shedding to stay bald
And the roots fumbling aimlessly for moisture
While I dream about rain in the flickering flame
of an afternoon nap
It finally comes like a long-lost friend……….
